Government is Abdicating its Duty to Protect Us

The BBC 1 Scotland current affairs programme, "Disclosure", has run a 1-hour documentary on Glasgow City Centre, entitled "Welcome to Glasgow". It was broadcast on 17-8-26 and is available on iPlayer.
As it happens, A Force For Good's Director Alistair McConnachie, was pictured several times (screenshot above) at the demonstration which occurred on Saturday 13th June 2026 at the Buchanan Steps.
This is a good opportunity to explain why we were there and what we were advocating, especially since no audio footage was used of us.
BACKGROUND to the EVENT
In the week previous to the event, we heard that the pro-mass immigration NGOs, Trade Unions and "Charities" who collectively join under the banner "Stand Up to Racism" [sic] was going to hold a pro-Open Borders rally on Buchanan Steps.
A Force For Good realised that we had to be there to counter their subversion.
It was especially shocking that the "Stand Up for Rxpists" group had organised their rally following, as it did, the shocking knife attack on Stephen Ogilvie in the streets of Belfast, by an official refugee from Sudan a week earlier (8-6-26).
Now, you would think that – in the face of such horror – the best thing would be a period of silence from the Open Door advocates. But no, they had to get in our faces and double down on their extremism.
These people are shameless!
On the day, and thanks to an anonymous social media generated response, around 50 young lads in black balaclavas – who were opposed to the Immigration Extremist crowd – had secured the Buchanan Steps prior to them laying out their stage.
However, owing to the larger presence of the Immigration Extremists, Police Scotland pushed them off and kettled them at the bottom of the Steps.
This is the first time the Open Border Fanatics had been denied the ability to do what they wanted to do and they were not happy.
Alistair and his colleague, arrived in the area of Buchanan Steps around 12.45pm with a megaphone.
OUR MESSAGE WAS THREE-FOLD:
1. Those who advocate for the current asylum regime are enabling the horrors which we had just witnessed in Belfast.
2. Virtually all the politicians in Westminster and Holyrood (with some notable exceptions) are not willing to address these matters, have no answers, and want more of the same – and this attitude continues to endanger us all.
3. While there are British Citizens who commit dreadful violence, the least we should do is not import even more violence from abroad – which is effectively what the current asylum regime is endlessly doing.
After around 10 mins of directly confronting them in their midst – see video here – the Police intervened and moved Alistair and his colleague into the kettled area, where we spent the best part of the next hour and a half directly addressing the Stand Up for Rxpists Extremists with our common-sense message.

Our message was constructive.
We were showing that things can be done, right now.
Necessary things, sensible things, practical things, all within the bounds of the laws as they exist at present. There are plenty of perfectly doable solutions.
Around 2.30ish, the Police then moved our kettled area through the crowd and onto Bath Street, where we were dispersed.
There was a bit of "argy bargy" from the Police – particularly when they tried to push the metal railings up against the "Beheader Spreader" crowd, and also push our group into a smaller area too. However, we are happy to say that newspaper reports tell us that there was only 1 arrest on the day.
The SUTR people were able to draw on 35 other organisations which they advertised prior to the rally – most of whom are funded by us, the long-suffering taxpayers.
SO, WHAT IS THE GOVERNMENT GOING TO DO?
You would think that after the horrific scenes from Belfast (and elsewhere), the UK Government and Parliament would now be developing a policy programme and holding news conferences, explaining, "Here's how we're going to protect the British people."
But, as the saying goes, we have heard only "crickets". Silence!
As for the so-called "Scottish Government", the only voices heard have been those from the likes of Mr Swinney who is keen to condemn and smear those of us who want normal border security.
However, there is plenty that can be done.
Here are two obvious policies (for starters).
OBVIOUS POLICY 1. NO GRANTS of ASYLUM to ANYONE FROM SUDAN
The person who attacked Stephen Oligvie on the streets of Belfast was a "refugee" from Sudan.
96% of asylum seekers from Sudan are granted "Refugee Status" (ie permission to remain). On these figures, what is to stop the whole of Sudan moving here and claiming asylum?
Seriously! Granting asylum to people from that country has to stop.
Africa is a big place. They can move anywhere in Africa (or to another part of Sudan). They don't need to move to the UK.
We have no moral obligation to take in anyone from Sudan! Why on earth are we lumbered with that requirement?
OBVIOUS POLICY 2. NO ASYLUM for ANYONE WHO ENTERS via the LAND BORDER with the REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
The attacker had entered the UK over the land border with Northern Ireland in order to claim "asylum" in the UK. Such a person has already had the opportunity to claim asylum in the Republic of Ireland if they really needed it.
It would be a very simple matter to exclude this route from asylum consideration. Anyone who uses this route should be punished with prison, and then deportation.

All this could be done easily, if only there were the political will to sort this out!
GOVERNMENT SILENCE has HORRENDOUS IMPLICATIONS
The silence of the ruling class of politicians – both in Scotland and the wider United Kingdom – represents sheer abdication of their responsibilities and their duties to everyone in our society.
Their "do nothing" failure of response – when obvious and easy responses such as the above two are available – simply demonstrates that they prefer to abandon the rest of us, than to say and do what needs to be done.
Imagine if, for example, after the attack on Stephen Ogilvie, the government had said: "Here is one policy which we can do immediately. From today we will be accepting no asylum seekers from Sudan."
Imagine the relief!
If they had said something like that, then there would be a feeling among the population that the government was "on the case"; that it saw what was happening; that it cared about what was happening; that it was prepared to do something about what was happening; that it was prepared to respond in favour of the protection of its British citizens to whom it has responsibilities and duties; that it would use its monopoly of force and power (which none of us have) to protect us.
But instead, it just ignores what is happening, and moves on as if there is "nothing to see here folks".
When there is only silence from the government, their message is still "loud and clear". It's "We don't care. You're on your own!"
Considering that the government is the only power which can legally implement the physical force solutions necessary to maintain our safety, then their "nothing helpful to offer" attitude is extremely troubling.
If the government is abdicating its "first duty to keep citizens safe and the country secure", as it says on the very first sentence on the Home Office website (below), then we have to ask why?
Are they really so in hock to post-war "ideals" about "asylum" that they would rather put the concerns of the asylum seekers before the concerns of British citizens themselves; and even before their stated duty to keep us citizens safe?
We were not approached for a comment at the event itself, nor afterwards during the production of the above programme. If we had been, we would have explained all this on camera.
