Promoting the Heart of Unionism: What we Believe
A Force For Good has a clear, well-thought-through philosophy of British Union which represents the Position upon which we stand, and from which we judge the Philosophy, Policy, Projects and Activity which we promote.
We've distilled it into our 4-point Position Statement below.
These 4 fundamental Principles also describe the Territory, the Nature, the Purpose, and the Form of Government of our United Kingdom.
1. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland shall be maintained.
This is our Territory.
2. The United Kingdom is, and shall remain, primarily a Unitary State and One Nation.
This is our Nature.

We are not primarily a "union of nations". We are primarily and predominantly a Nation of Unions. We are not merely a "family of nations". We are a Nation of Families.
That's important because if we conceive of the United Kingdom only as a "union of nations" then we are thinking of our relationship in an unstable way. We are opening the door to forms of destabilising devolution which do not properly take into account our Unitary Nature; which do not properly take into account our Oneness.
Political attitudes which do not properly comprehend the Unitary Nature of the United Kingdom will grease the slippery slope towards forms of destabilising federalism, slow independence and, ultimately, separation.
3. Ever Closer Union between all the people and parts of the United Kingdom shall be pursued: including but not limited to elements; social, cultural, educational, economic, legal, territorial and political.
This is our Purpose.
4. The United Kingdom is a Constitutional Monarchy and Representative Parliamentary Democracy; and the House of Windsor shall continue to provide the Head of State.
This is our Form of Government.
We are a Constitutional Monarchy where the Queen is the Head of State, and where the ultimate authority to make and pass legislation rests with the British Parliament, and the People who elect it. We recognise the importance of that Form of Government in conferring upon our Islands our unique identity.
Our Nation of Unions, and Nation of Families
We know the roots of the United Kingdom go far beyond the Parliamentary Union of 1707, or the Regal Union of the Crowns of 1603, but stretch far back into the dawn of time.
It is that understanding which informs our work.
We have a Narrative – an overall Story within which we understand ourselves and make our case. It is a Union Story, and it goes right back to the dawn of time.
Discovering and telling this story has been the work of A Force For Good since we established on 21 March 2012.
It begins, to quote the words of the song:
When Britain First, At Heaven's Command
Arose from out the Azure Main
This was the Charter of the Land
And Guardian Angels Sang this Strain
Rule Britannia, Britannia Rule the Waves
Britons Never, Never, Never Shall be Slaves.
That was written by the Scotsman James Thomson, who had the same attitude towards Britain as we do.
We believe that since Britain first came out of the sea and began to be populated, it has been on a journey through time, tending towards Union; towards ever closer and greater Union.
Sometimes suffering setbacks, but generally spinning through time and space, towards perfect Union – with our participation and help.
Consequently, the United Kingdom is a Nation of Unions. It is not simply a "union of nations".
So that's where we're coming from!
We develop these points every day on this Website and on our Social Media platforms. We use them as the basis to develop Strategies and Policies necessary to strengthen our United Kingdom.
As we always emphasise, the passage of time should be bringing us closer together. It should not be driving us further apart!
